Well I just sealed the deal on that 210g you've probably heard me mention over the past few days. This is how the tank is set up at the moment. The original owner linked the 2 sumps together and pumps back into the tank via a single pump. I've never really seen anything like this so I want to hear your thoughts on it. In a nutshell, each overflow is connected to its own independent sump. The sumps are then linked at the ends and pumped back into the tank via an external pump. I wasn't sure how to express this in my drawing, so I'll explain. The sumps are placed under the tank with the longest side running perpendicular to the length of the tank. Does that make sense? Rather than run each sump the long ways, the narrower sized are facing forward.

What do you guys think of this setup? I'm planning on a mag 24 to return the water and 2 powerheads in the tank itself to promote circulation.

Looks good to me. Enjoy the set-up and get some pics.

:iagree: , just a modification of a full size sump.

Hurry up and get it wet...:nilly:

No two pumps will pump exactly the same so Two sumps are fine but they have to be connected or one will run dry. Fill one with sand (or other granular filter media) and leave the other empty. This gives you room to grow.

?

I don't get it either. Both sumps will be filled with bioballs and sponges accordingly. Unfortunetly, my basement has about an inch of water keeping me from picking up the tank today. Plans have been delayed until the weekend.

I feel for ya, I've had to plumbing floods in the house in the last month and I'm tired of it.

Oh, don't forget the pre-filters (course air filter and poly-fil under it to keep the bio-material clean and unclogged).
