Just looking for some pointers when hitting a small stream by my house. It has wide and deep spots, but for the most part it is about 10 ft. wide and about knee deep average. I don't discriminate with fish so any bait/lure tips would help as well. I'm taking my boy out later and it would be nice for him to get something. I'm usually a lake guy so presentations and techniques for creeks are still very new to me. I won't be insulted if you walk me through this with baby steps. I'm always open to new ideas, even basic ones. Thanks.

Small spinners and small Rapalas work well, and even a smaller hook with a worm can work good in a creek. Look for deeper holes in the creek, they usually will hold fish.

small spinners, spoons, jigs, a worm on a hook with weight or a small bobber for tackle but nothing beats a fly rod with flies in a creek. it all depends on whats in the creek, any idea?
the hard part about small creeks is finding structure and where the fish are holding

Yeah look for the deeper spots after a riffle. Cant beat small hooks and worms in a small creek. Never tried anything else, but am normally just looking for bait but that will get you all different kinds of fish.

joes fly spinners they rock
i love this one. works 95 percent the time to atleast catch something.

o yeah u can buy them at walmart.

Use a mepps #0 or #1 spinner thats either gold or silver depending on cloud conditions. Fish facing upstream casting at rocks or the deep pools and ripping the spinner by these points very quickly. This method has worked for me many times over in Upstate new york and i have caught literally thousands of trout doing it... good luck it should be tons of fun.

Awesome ideas everyone, thank you I will try them all. We ended up going out before anyone posted so we went for the old fashion leftover dinner bobber combo. As a bonus my daughter joined in on what was previously planned as just time for the boys. Nice trip. Hard to get a five and three year old on the same page but we managed to pull a couple out before the young bucks lost interest. Here they are. Not sure what the minnow looking guy is, but we got a nice little pumpkinseed and there was trout and baby largemouths out the yin yang. There was 1 big bass which will have to wait to meet me later when I can focus harder on tricking him into a bite. We used corn primarily but also some little pieces of steak, broccolli and shell noodles. Decent lunch for those guys. They are crazy for corn. By the way can anyone id the minnow? He would look good as bait for the lake.
