Is there a method to get a male and female cichlid to pair up?
Male is like 5"
Female is like 2-3"

Introduce 2 fish together into one tank.. If they're not aggressive towards each other than just wait.. If they're aggressive than place a divider and wait a week or two and remove the divider..

What if they pay no attention to each other they just swim back and forth but not with each other.

Yeah, don't think there really is a way to force a pair of fish to mate... all you can do is place min. 1M/1F together and hope the magic happens...

it's worth while sometimes to change the water temp a little when doing a water change sometimes this causes fish to spawn.

When the female starts digging near a rock and starts cleaning it she's getting ready.
I bred these before I had my female first for about year before I found a nice male. When I first put them together she immediately bonded and she laid down eggs within the first week together. Not saying its that easy but if they don't fight then very good chance when she ready there will be eggs.

What are u trying to pair up? space and low stress are good factors. they might take longer if the tank is overcrowded.
