Any tips on loach raising?

I'm totally new to clown loaches, and just got 5 today. 4 are 2'' and one is five. A few are even saddled / broken barred. Not bad for $28
So, they live with a CAE, who's pretty peaceful, other than guarding his cave, and a black kuhli thats been in that tank forever.
Any ideas on what to feed them to get max growth?
any other tips?

lots of fresh water, lots of food. the ones i had liked shrimp(market, live or pellets), fish flake, algea wafers, cucumber, zuccini, peas and snails. i've heard of people feeding them on melons and other fruits an veggies, but that's what mine likes. they like to have more current than usual fish.

al mine will currently eat are flakes.
i'm trying to get them on some shrimp though.

Bloodworms are great loach food too.
