I bought a Lima Shovelnose about three weeks ago and I'm having problems with him chilling by my heater. He has a very small but visible mark/line that looks like a heater burn. Any suggestions or any needed treatment and how to protect my fish from the heater. I was thinking about cutting a PVC pipe a little bigger than my heater and resting it inside that possibly.

Is the heater attached with suction cups? try and stick something behind it so he can't fit, and add some hiding places elsewhere in the tank. PVC pipe caves might work well.

So I have moved the heater several times but he keeps finding it an also have used PVC caves before and they never go in them or use them. I have made a temporary fix for now. I took a 4in. in diameter PVC pipe and capped one end off and drilled several large holes into it and put the suction cups through two of the several holes. It seems to be working for now. I have contacted a little LFS that I know and they are gonna check for heater guards for my heater brand. It sucks that thery're are no little LFS stores in my town, they always carry replacement parts or anything that I ever need . All these coporate stores never have anything I need. So I rely on this LFS store in the next town for important parts. So there gonna call me back with more info tomorrow.
