I finally decided to commit to the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor school tomorrow and am really excited! I was accepted into the Literature, Science, and Art school (LSA), with the intention of getting into the Ross BBA school my sophomore year. It's going to be a crazy transition for me since I've lived in Southern California all my life and, up until last year, had never traveled farther east than Las Vegas :screwy:. I visited this past week and got to experience both the cold and warm weather, which was pretty amazing since I flew in right after a rainstorm, and left on a relatively warm and sunny day (it was a two day trip!). Attending school in the midwest also means one very sad truth: keeping up my fishkeeping addiction will be very difficult . I can see myself with a well maintained (of course) 5 gallon betta tank, a 10 gallon if I have an awesome roommate, but nothing more. Does any recent/current MFK college students have some suggestions on how they quenched their addiction throughout college? And are there any UofM alumni/current wolverines here on MFK, if so, I'd love to talk to you about your experience. Go Blue! :headbang2

Good luck man. What about your mini pond? You know what, if it is not overstocked they may juts be able to survive on their own with what mother nature provides. My mini pond is still going strong.

my mini pond is doing really well too! some of the plants have burned out from the intense sun wwe've been having, but I still see at least 15 or so juvenile mosquito fish everytime I feed it. The water is crystal clear too! My plan is to move the pond and plants into my 40 gallon tank once I get rid of the cichlids that way it has better filter and less water is evaporated so my parents would only need to top it off every now and then and when I come back to visit, I can do a good water change. Plus it keeps the tank filled so that they can't thow it out.

I can't tell you anything about UM, but I will tell you one thing: Get ready for some of the weirdest weather ever, lol. I don't live in Michigan, but Ohio is close and we definitely have strange weather. There were days a few months ago when it would be pouring one day, sunny and in the 70s the day after that, and then snowing the next day, haha.

Yeah I have lived in northern IL before and had really crappy weather I did not like. Could be warm one day and all of a sudden a storm with lighting and thounder and tons of wind breaks out. SOmetimes it can be a partial day like that too, could be sunny, then storm for like a few hours, then back sunny again. The weather was random like that.

Be prepared for a lot more rain, wind, and cold than you are used in southern CA. I kinda hated the weather cause I don't like the cold much. Living in CA most my life I like the sun, I can handle temps in 90s and 100s no prob.
