Hi
Does anyone have any updates/pics of BAbychris's Golden Platinum fry batch? Im curious to see how they turned out. Especially a male with a nice kok.

here are mine from that batch, I was told they were called faded kamalau? I'm an FH noob :)

Anyways, all four fish in this thread are from that batch, and the two biggest ones are getting better and better every week! The pics do them no justice:

I decided to keep the two big ones and the white one for now, for a breeding project I'm going to try. We'll see if they are fertile...

Nobody else has any?

Is there such a thing as 'late bloomers' in the FH scene?

I ask because my two big males (appx 6.5" full length) are starting to show a notch on their foreheads!

I thought they would be kokless, but their head shape is definitely changing.

I'll try to take some good pics but I get annoyed by how much my camera kills their color.

ive noticed the golden platinums when they grow they have black markings on their head and body. its a healthy fish but i dont know seems like it didnt turn out the way i expected

yeah that is pretty normal at 6.5 to start having kok. remember this are not the new generations of flowerhorns. the new generations have koks at 3 inches.

paul you have to get more than one or two. you cannot expect to get a really nice one if you are buying only one or two flowerhorns especially if they are small. the reason why cohazzard have some nice ones coz the previous owner bought about 50 fry's from me and picked which ones to keep and which ones to get rid off. remember all fry's wont turn out nice about 50% of the batch will only be keepers.

True!

I got 10 from J and he said only one would fade to golden platinum (it was already half done fading), but later one others faded, and I ended up with 4 really nice FH!

It's all luck. These were known as lucky fish back in the day, right? :D

if you put it that way its understandable sorry about that chris. im not hating on your flowerhorns. i love them too. :)

I purchased 10 frys from chris a month or so ago and they seem alright. At about 2" 6 of the 10 have started fading and 1 is completely yellow. I hope some red kicks in though. I will try to take some pics but these guys always think it is time to eat and blurr out. Anyone have a good idea on which one's i should keep. I rather not have dividers and all that so i just want to keep one as a pet. They are growing out in a 24 planted nano and are really starting to go after each other at this point. As for the the yellow one. Does it have hope of turning red? It has a whitish blaze across the back. Anyways thanks again chris. so far so good
