Are there any ways to tell if your poly is wild caught or captive bred?

I know Del's who have asymetrical stripes tend to be CB, but what about poly's such as Endlis?

I saw a photo of a "wild caught Guinea" endli that looks like a larger version of my lil juvies. While an example of a "possible wild caught" endli had thicker darker stripes.

I'm going to ask Rich if he knows.

Looking forward to your responses :D

The surest way is probably by size. If you get tiny endlis then it's most likely cb. I also notice that many of the cb endlis don't have full bands running from the base to the top. Many of the ones that I have look like they have pi symbols running on their sides. Although there are some cb that have the full bands so it's possible to confuse one with wc ones if you got it at a much larger size. I also think that the markings look cleaner on wild caught ones.

Good point about size. I was thinking that myself... especially since fish farms seem to of had success with sens, ornates, and del's, I assume that in time, all polys will become easy to obtain at great prices, although some of their wild blood will be dulled down :(

I asked rich and the juvie endli's he's selling are CB. They look amazing!

Known commercialy bred species include
P.ornatipinnis
P.delhezi
P.senegalus (regular and albino variants)
P.endlicheri
P.p.polli
and I have heard rumors of P.bichir lapradei-Anne
