They get too big for your normal aquarium sizes. Stick to redfin/grass pickerel and if you really want something larger, chain pickerel. Redfin/grass you will be able to keep in a 75G. Chain pickerel is going to need at least a 180G, imo.
I had the same thoughts chugger........I even considered ordering muskie from minnesota muskie farm. I wound up keeping a chain pickerel I caught angling and he is awesome. He may get 20+ inches but he won't be a truly unmanagable monster in my 210 gallon tank so I can enjoy him with a clear conscience. Check him out. I strongly suggest this alternative so you can enjoy a very similar fish without the expense of changing tanks or running a huge system.
Here I took a couple new ones for you. He is just as attractive and impressive as a Northern! His name is "Otto." he is currently only 16 inches but chubby and well fed.

Dude he is so badass looking. You can get Northerns from fingerling size all the way up to ready to transplant size from the Minnesota Muskie Farm like Gunther recommended. Here is the link - Rob and Debbie Jost are really great and very helpful people!
Just check out their various species listing out there. They have everything from 3 strains of Muskie, to Northerns, Walleyes, Yellow Perch, Blue Gills and even Bullheads.
Thanks sly.........chugger catch them yourself and stay with the chain pickerel instead of the muskie for a permanent tank fish. Sly...I didn't have such a good experience with them. They return my emails late, never answer my questions, and make ridiculous recommendations for the fish I should have together in one tank. They want to make money.
By the way, I have added a yellow perch and I'll have a bass and bullhead in there by the weekend. I can't think of anything left I would order from MMF anyway! Perch are more attractive than walleye, I have Otto the "muskie substitute", bullhead and bass are a dime a dozen around here.......I'll catch them myself.
Sorry if its seems like I am getting your thread off track but I just want you to think about all the options. Pike are way too huge as adults for a tank. They'll probably smash the glass.
WOW THATS A NICE FISH, SEE I LIKE THE MARKINGS OF THE NORTHERN PIKE, THAT WAS ONE OF THE MAIN REASON I WANTED TO TRY TO KEEP ONE, BUT YOUR FISH LOOKS GREAT, HAVE YOU EVER SAW A ALBINO PIKE.
