corona, ca
they are tenting everything even the lawn.. 2.5 days out of the house...

stupid underground terminites

I had my house tented about 10 years ago and the termite company told me to just cover the tanks. I think I used a towell. They said that poisonous gas can't contaminate aquarium water. It worked for me; didn't lose anything. You might want to take whatever precautions that you would normally take if youre going on a long weekend vacation though.

i dont ever leave the house except for work so i dont have any percautions :(

they terminix guy said "were suposed to tell people that as long as they turn off the airpumps and tape our magic bags over the top everything should be fine... but i dont tell people that cuz ive seen that not work"
im glad he was honest with me but now im worried about my pleco... hes gotten so big in the 2 years ive had him...

1. Turn off air pumps but internal power filters or canister filters are okay (hopefully its not very hot or your tank isnt highly stocked).
2. Plastic sheet to seal and tape up the tank - you want to keep new air from entering
3. Moist towel over the plastic/tank to absorb any chemical drift or over spray.

If you have any really favourite or sentimental fish I wpuld temporarily house them elsewhere till you know the tank is okay again.

i woul without a doubt move the fish to another location, and buy a cheap large plastic storage container or two from wal-mart, and run them with an air pump and sponge/box filter until your house is clear..

do you really want to chance losing fish you've spent time, and hard earned money on, and have become attatched to??? personally i wouldent. not when we take every precaution we can usually to keep our fish happy and healthy. so why take a small chance of leaving them in harms way now???

the fish i dont like are the ones my gf loves... i guess everyone is coming with me.. now i just need to find a place for the cats.. i dont think a plastic tote is going to work for them

Perfectly said.

I might consider running some fresh carbon just in case some fumes leak into the tank.

Good luck
