I bought a small kayak last night, and want to use it up on Lake Hopatcong fishing for large bass. Anyone got any ideas how to modify it to be more 'fisherman friendly'?

cabelas and bass pro have alot of parts and add ons i would check them out. They are even special kayak fishing poles

Just get some rod holders and some type of anchor system. Im running two Ram tubes and one Scotty Orca rod holder. I also put an anchor trolley on mine. I did all my mods( http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=235983 ) myself so if you have any questions pm me. O btw when it comes to bolting the rod holders on stick to well nuts you'll save yourself a mess.

Is it sit on top or sit in? I fish from a sit in yak all the time, it can be a bit of a pain, but you can get into the skinny water really quietly. I once caught a six foot lemon shark from my yak. He towed me for miles before I wore him down. He wore me down pretty good too.
Another really good investment would be a sea anchor. Will keep you from getting blown around so much. I don't use rod holders, just set the pole in my lap. If I've got multiple poles, I lash one to the foredeck. I primarily flyfish, so I usually just take my trusty 2 weight bassin. Don't see the need for anything heavier.
