My Kels paired off and made their first attempt at breeding in my community tank.
Eggs where deposited however they never appeared fertilized.
Looking for links, threads , articles on captive breeding peacock bass in home aquarium..

Any advice , observations from experienced breeders would be appreciated?

I haven't bred kels but u have bred monos, can't be Mich different. Just do water changes to get them in the mood, maybe a little bon jovi and feed them fatty foods like shrimp helps the male and his juices😉

Eggs will hatch in about 60 hours if fertilized. The fry will become free swimming about 2-3 days after they hatch. If you are serious about hatching them, remove the eggs and put them in their own tank, I used a 20 gallon with a bare bottom and a small aquaclear filter to keep water moving and clean. Once they are free swimming you will need to feed them live baby brine shrimp. I have tried every other food possible when they first hatch and that was the only thing they ate. Once they eat the live baby brine, feed them a few times a day, 3-4 times and make sure the water is in the 83-85 degree range. Make sure you do small water changes, I would change out a couple gallons a day. Once they are eating they grow very quick and once they hit the half inch range or so they will beg for food when you walk by the tank and then they will start eating every thing. It's a lot of work but is also very rewarding. Good luck and post some pics next time they spawn.

Thank you , next time going to pull the eggs and have made arrangements to move eggs to a fellow hobbyist's fishroom..

Haha Ya, oh once they get in the 20 some people not to do the shrimp idea but I never had problem with them cleaning the eggs, make sure there the ghost shrimp though. Only if you want to.
