I went to Wal-Mart and bought a foam poster board. It was less than $3 and I like it. Here's a tank I'm setting up for a Gulper Cat.

The reason behind painting instead of mounting a background is that you won't have drip marks or salt runs visible on a painted background.

never thought about that.....

thanks phil:)

nope i taped it to the back and to the top so the water if splashed out runs on the back of the background not the tank
:D

when you apply theposter/sheet it gets out of shape looses colour and wears.

ive had poster board for my backgrounds for months and mine fits perfect and i dnt spill water cuz im not messy its not hard to keep water from going over the back of your tank...
