Just want a new computer, and don't want to spend over $500. Not going to be used gaming or anything like that. For the record, I based the computer around the processor because its a quadcore, theres a lot of cache, and its cheap. I picked that mobo because it had intergrated graphics and it was one of the top sellers for am2+.

heres what I've currently got in my cart

After reading through all of that this is what I need to know..
  • Am I missing anything other than a OS?
  • Do I need the extra fan?
  • Is the power supply going to be big enough?
  • Should I get a different case? (no lame LED cases)
  • Am I buying anything thats just a bad product?
  • If it were you is there anything you change around and why?

thanks in advance

an amd usually requires an extra fan
by the way where are the input devices
-keyboard
-mouse

and PM Li
he had done some great Monster PC for his bro
he might be a better help

already have keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Don't know who Li is, I'll just wait for him to come in the thread if he wants to help. I plan on buying the extra fan anyways (unless I should get a better one?) but am going to be clueless when it comes to figuring out where to mount it. I took a close look at the case and there wasn't any extra space for one. Thanks for the info so far.

Here's my custom build :D
Intel Xeon 3210 quad core 2.13GHz OCed to 3.8 :headbang2
DFI P35-T2R LanParty mobo
4GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2800 running at 1175
ATI Radeon HD3870
2xWD Raptors RAID-0
Corsair HX520 PSU
Watercooled:
D-Tek Fuzion WB
Swiftech MCR-320 Radiator w/ 3x Yates Loon 120mm 88cfm fans
Swiftech MCP655 pump

And the Case is a modified Lian Li PC-G75B

And nix the Western Digital hdd, and get a Seagate 7200.11 series drive.

WD drives (except raptors) are junk.

PSU should be fine running on board gfx as long as you're not doing any overclocking

PM me if you have any questions.

Li is our master.

Li aint got nothing on me :D

About your question on the fan, never heard of masscool, panaflo, scythe and yates loon are some of the best, longest lasting and quiet fans on the market. There's a spot to mount an additional fan on that case. It's at the bottom of the front inside the case. You should have that fan drawing air in from the front, mount your hdd in the cage at the bottom, this way the air from the intake will flow over the hdds and keep them cooler. The back 90mm fan should be drawing air out of the case.

**edit**
Looks like there's room for 2x80mm intake fans, which would be a good idea. With 2 intakes and 1 exhaust you'll have what's called positive pressure. Basically intaking more air than it's putting out keeping a positive pressure inside the case. This is a good thing because dust won't be sucked in through all the airgaps in the case. Now if you had more air going out than in, every airgap and crack in the case would be sucking dust in your rig.
