i think im gonna get a female for my male clown plec, and i think im going to get anohter pair of them as well.
when are they sexually mature?
what is the best stuff to make their caves out of? (i.e. wood, rocks, etc.)
are they difficult to breed, and how fast do fry grow?

G'day.

Most plecs are pretty much the same to breed, the difference being fry sensitivity and reluctance of the parents to spawn.

If you are talking about clown plec as in L397, then they are an excellent choice for a plec you are willing to breed. Hold off on a new pair. Buy two females so you have a trio. That way the male is busy most of the time and not waiting weeks doing nothing, waiting for the female to become gravid again.

Have you got a whole tank setup for them or is it community? My plec breeding tank is not a real community as such, but it does have fish other than the plecs in it. At the moment I have got eggs in the fry saver right now. I would recomend getting a seperate aquarium.

You should decorate your aquarium sparsely. Thin layer of sand, 3 or so bits of driftwood (one for each plec), and a cave for the male. No more. I found a seller of great caves in America for you, although he is Australian based. http://www.plecofanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=81220&highlight=caves

Pretty much the same for all pleco species. Once you have to basics you can refine your techniques with trial and error...

I don't have the panaques breeding for me yet so I can't help you in that department...

waiting patiently for the L206s to start :(
