Anybody have fish that just kill for the sake of it?

I woke up this morning to find my ringtail pike ate half of the 30 shrimp i put in with him (I knew he'd eat them, they were feeders), but he didn't eat 15 of them, he ate half of ALL OF THEM and left the rest to rot. Does anybody else have a fish that just kills live food and leaves it to rot?
