I currently have a male tex and a male GT in my 120. I love the combo and they flair up but no real fights yet. They've bbeen in the same tank for probably four months now. I'm just wondering if anyone has successfully kept these at full size. Thanks.

I've done it before, but my Texas was much larger than my GT, (8 & 5 inches respectively) so the gt really just avoided the tex. They had no problems either, but if they were similar sized, they may have had more squabbles.

I see the tex is just a juvie. Watch him carefully when he hits 5-6 inches. They may really start to dislike each other around that size.

Thanks! The Tex is nearing 4" now. So far so good. I'll report back occasionally.

yeah, that should be fine.
a tank that size is plenty of room for two cichlids of that size and tempermant, i would be surprised if one dominated the other.

I had a texas and a gt togeather in a 125g, never had any problem between em. My BS ended up killing my texas unfortunatly but as far as between the texas and the GT, no troubles at all!

I have a 7" carpinte and he likes no cichlid tankmates. He inflicts no serious damage, but is always chasing. A lot of raw flanks. Yes, your tank size helps, but as he approaches full size, trouble may develop. Then again, there are exceptions to every rule.
