Is there any place that sells stands to hold two tank's one on top, one on bottom, for a 125g x2, 220g x2, 265g x2. combo or bigger? I am not a carpenter by no means and would not trust my work. I would really like to save space and double my tank capacity. It would be awesome if there was actually room in between the top and bottom tank unlike all these double metal iron stands sold in fish stores.

Don't think they make them that big to be honest. I've never seen them over 75g. Not to mention I wouldn't want a large tank on the bottom. Water changes/filters/etc all become a problem with a large tank low to the ground. my .02

A guy was making them for a pet shop a couple years ago, and they looked absolutely awesome, I bought one for 2 55g. and still have it. He made them up to 125g. but couldn't keep up with demand cause it was just a side job. I really wish I would have bought one or got his number.

As far as the bottom tank's go, I know all about how bad they suck to clean, that's why I was going to go bare bottom with the lower tank's to make life that much easier.

i am a certified welder and i built a double for me out of steel i could do the same for you. I would need a drawing and measurments of what you want and i can build it.

let me know

For the stand you describe, you have two options:

First, you can have someone make it by welding angle iron. The other option is to find a sturdy metal stand at a place like Lowes or Home Depot. Lowes has such a stand, but it may require the addition of plywood, depending upon the config. of your tanks.

Not only that but doing a water change on tanks that sit real low can be a pain if you're using a plain syphon. There's not enough gravity pull to get the syphon a really strong pull like you would with a tank that sits higher. Then when talking big tanks usually you'll be using canister filters or some sort of sump/wet dry. Obvious problem with the sump/wetdry is where to put it on double stacked tanks that sit low. But not only that canister filters/other external filters IMO need a gravity feed to work. I had a 150g that sat real low and an xp3 canister that just wouldn't work at that low of a level because it couldn't keep a good syphon.

Thank's I was planning on using some sort of powerhead, diy, pvc pipe with holes drilled in it to keep the debre off the bottom and therefore constantly getting sucked in to the filters. Then I would siphon out the little bit if any on the bottom with a siphon and a bucket. And pump the rest out with a HUGE powerhead and refill with a huge powerhead.
I am a big fan of emp. 400's, and the Fluval fx5's. I have two fx5's on my pond right now. It sit's on the floor and the fx5's don't have any problems, and still pump full power.
Right now I siphon all my tank's down a flight of stairs to the basement so I still get real good draw even from my bottom tank's...

Sounds like you have it figured out then.. :)

well as far as shipping i would have to look into something for that but im alawys into some travel as well. I go to Indy for work all the time and detroit
and ihave a store i do in columbus. But not sure when i would have to go over there.
