hi everybody,
after realizing that the atlantic sharpnose was not a good beginner shark... i began to search for some other sharks and found out that the white tip shark can handle small and tight spaces. i want to know if there are any websites that i can go to to purchase a white tip or is there anybody here that are selling some?

I suspect you'll find plenty of people wanting to help you put a large fish in a small tight space here!

You can own those? Also you said your a beginner that's a big shark

hey Mount_Prion
-__________- perhaps i nvr made it too clear. I NEVER SAID THAT I WAS GOING TO PUT IT IN A SMALL TANK! I am not an animal abuser. i was just stating the fact that they can handle tight spaces... is there something wrong w/ stating a fact? Oddball , thanks for the info. :) guess i'll have to look for some other shark.

If you do not have the space for the sharpnose sharks, you definitely do not have the space for a shark that reaches well over five feet. These sharks need as much space the sharpies do.

Well - whitetips reefs do seem to acclimate to captivity easier than small hyper-active coastal species like Sharpnose sharks.

But I wouldn't consider - the Whitetip reefs to be a beginner shark. Only a bit better than a sharpnose, or bonnethead. the problem is because it adult size (as the average 5-5.5 ft, and can max out at more than 6 ft in length) - a whitetip reef may need the same amount of room as a small group of Sharpnose or Bonnetheads. But it's still less than a Blacktip Reef needs as adult.

Still there are individuals that have successful kept Whitetip Reefs in 16-18ft diameter x 4 ft deep pond - until the whitetip reef reached maturity - which is about 3.3-3.6 ft long.

I'll toss in my $.02. White tips are not for beginners. They also require a lot of space. It may be smaller vs their size, but they get fairly good sized. I've kept and bred white tips reefs.

And being they are illegal in CA, I'll lock this one down.
