Just checking for experiences with this combo ive planned out

-Brevis Tiger Fish
-Goonch (thai yarelli)
-ornate bichir
-black volta endli bichir
-gold dust beutokoferri bichir
-palmas palmas bichir
-ropefish
-gymnogeophagus balzani (hes faring pretty well w/ my red hi fin, ornate, gold dust and ropefish for now)

Now i know at one point the palmas complex bichir will be able to be eaten by the goonch, or even a larger bichir. I plan to take them out for an explicitly small bichir tank (all the palmas complex, mokelembembe) at that point. At that point ill probably be adding big congicus and bichir bichir as replacements. Final tank dimens is going to depend on a few things, but ideally at least 500-1000 gallons

Both the goonch and the balzanii may require lower water temp depending on species of goonch - and does this mean you don't have a tank yet ? TANK FIRST! :)

Haha they are in a 70 ga grow out for now, already started gathering materials for a 200-300 gallon diy that will be done by spring! When I move out and have my own place (within the next few years) I'm going to build the 500-1000 gallon. I'm about to start working with a custom aquarium company, I have expert help and am going to be trained well. I'm not worried about my plans, I've ran them by many people who've kept fish a lot longer then I have.

I was told the collection point of the balzani was from a more southerly area and wouldn't need the cooler temps. Hopefully this is correct, and the specie of goonch I am getting will be a Thai yarelli, getting one from Wes next shipment, will probably be around 5 inches and everything else in the tank is at 6 inches so they'll be okay.

BTW guys, I am a fish guy and will always be, so don't be doubting I won't follow through with the plans

Your planned stocklist should be fine. The only concern I have is the ornate hurting the goonch and possibly the other polys. The Thai yarrelli will almost certainly be rutilus, which lives in warm water and is fairly slow growing. I believe that the goonch won't be a concern for you unless you get (un?)lucky and get one of the larger, less common species from the region. All in all, the combo seems like it has the potential to be a good one.

I've thought about selling the ornate he hasn't shown much aggression yet so I'm hoping he may be of good disposition I've raised him since 2 inch my buddy bred his WC pair and I got the pick of the litter so to say, a very solid F1. I sure do hope I don't end up w/ the giant! Haha i know I've run this idea past you but I just wanted to see what others had to say too. This will be one hell of a tank. May add an Irwini cat to the mix haha. I'd love to include my red hi fin wolf in this but I don't think it'll work

one thing I would do is get the 200-300 gallon tank done first. it will allow more space for error and u could load it up with differs.

Pole. Stop. Your like 13, and every time theres a thread like this you go tank first, there is a such thing as growouts, slow your roll pal. Im in the process of gathering materials already, if you want to do a DIY tank and you already have the fish its kind of counter productive to build the bigger growout first, not to mention hard on the wallet, youll understand once youve grown up. Plus I have consulted many people far more experienced then you about this, the fish will be fine with these plans
