I ask this question because I know if you have a good filter you should have enough surface agitation to create a decent amount of oxygen in the water. I recently bought a small pump to create a bubble wall in my take to suplement the oxygen that my surface filter is providing. Anyone else use both? Is this the norm?

If your filter itself is already creating too much turbulence, an airpump is not necessary. Keep a battery operated one though for emergencies and power outages.

Why not just grab a fluval plus internal if so? creates oxygen as well as filtration!

How is it that this filter creates oxygen?

basicly a powerhead with a hob style filter stuck on it... IMO for the money yer better off just getting a powerhead with a nice sponge filter on it

i only use bubbles on one tank... and its just because the bubbles look nice
