anyone bred jaguars cichlids before?

my buddy and I are thinkign about trying this endevor. About how many fry should be expected each time and how much are the young jags worth?

i think they lay 100 but you'll prob only get 5 to 10 if not less and i know a full grown breeding pair is worth $40 prob $5 to $8 for young fish

if you were closer i could get you a breeding pair for a good price.also,they lay more eggs than that and they have more babies than that.they have almost as many fry as they lay eggs.you should get a bunch of fry since these fish defend their fry.

I had a breading pair and honestly people really didn't want the fry's. At least where I live..

when raising the fry what would be a good sized tank to house them in or are the jags good enough parents to where they wont eat them?

i have not, but do you want to? I have a female I want someone to adopt who is ready haha. just needs a male. shes nesting and everything

I have a deal with my LFS for 1/2 of retail, in store credit
or
a buck a piece, cash

I have mine in a 225g and IMO it's still not big enough for all the fry and Mom and Dad...10-15% daily W/C and 50-75% weekly W/C w/ quarts and quarts of AmQuel+
Between that and the food, it's gonna be iffy if I break even...

Im not quite there yet lol. Going to need another tank to house the pair in then one for the fry, were just kinda rolling around the idea at the moment..
