My old 120 had a home made 29g wet dry. I used the durso standpipes which helped tremendously but the water going into the sump was extremely loud (didn't help that I had a 2400 gph pump running it).

Anyway, I'm talking to a guy that has a 180g for sale with an included 55g sump. It's a good price @ $400 w/ stand.

My issue though is it will be in the same room as my tv so I plan on skipping it in favor for a 125 and FX5 unless I can come up with a quiet wet dry design. So does anyone have any good news?

What about plumbing the FX5 into the overflows? Anyone had much success with this?

My overflow is very quiet, in fact you can't even tell it is throwing water down to my sump at around 1100gph. Sometimes I check that it is still flowing. The emergency syphon works too, I turned up my pumps to purposely overflow the tank and it worked like a charm.
Without the 1" pipe inside the 1.5" pipe restricting the flow at the holes the overflow gets very noisy. The 90 degree bends fit nicely into the 1.5" pipe as well, enabling this design to work without glues.
As detailed in the picture, I don't know why it works. It just does, I am sure a plumber or DIY enthusiast could explain it. Click on the pic to expand it.

Try a herbie overflow with the sump intake submersed.

Yup, me sump with Herbie pipes is dead silent. Here's a video of my tank:

Thanks for the info guys. I decided to pass on the 180g. He only wants $450 but it's missing just about everything so it would easily take another $300-400 to get it up and going and I just don't want to put that kind of money in to a tank right now.
