I have been wanting a larger tank and cannot really afford one at the moment. So, just last night I posted in the 'pets' section and got a overwhelming response from people willing to give me their tanks for free. The two tanks I'm gonna look at are a 75 gallon tank only, and the other is a 150 gallon complete set up (w/canister filter), a Oscar and a pleco.

I've had such good luck with people on Craigslist it's ridiculous. I've done tons of transactions thru the site and always came across good deals. I've gotten tons of free tanks and a few filters, and sold a few fish as well as bought my 55 gallon on there. I've also come across quite a few fish on there for sale or for free. I've never bought the fish, but they're there.

I do live right next to Manhattan, so the Craigslist for my area is booming. If you live near a city, you may have similar luck.

I use it all the time, but most sellers/giver-away-ers are flakes lately.

A free pair of cons I emailed about got me one reply saying I could have them and then dead air. I've emailed the person twice now.

A free tank stand never got a reply after the email went.

:(

But you never know.
