bought a Tbar cichlid around 2 months ago and this little guy is approaching 3" and what im supprised about is how he has managed to become boss of the tank at the moment even though he is in with some 6"+ severums and some highly aggresive red hump eartheaters..

I even have to quarantine this little cichlid whilst i clean the tank or he will constantly swim into my hand trying to attack my fingers ol :screwy: or any fingers going in the tank around feeding time....

I don't, but yours is very beautiful.

Thanks, I think this t bar is going to grow a hump on his head by the looks of it?

yes, and imagine how much more he'd color up for a female :-)

Hhmmm never thought of that better pop back in the shop... it's awful having a LFS that sells cichlids for £2 lol you run out of tank space quickly

with him already running the tank though, he'd probably get too brutal for the fish he's with. they're all SAs, that's why he's the boss.

I have a young male and female (hoping they pair) in my 135gal CA community. They are beautiful fish and definitely my favorite Cryptoheros species. My male is only around 2in and has quite the attitude as well. He regularly squares up with my V. argentea which is twice his size.

Your male is quite the looker! Great pics!

i had a small pair for a while, and i did like them alot.yours looks great,i would split him from your SA fish, since he it seems he will become more aggressive.if you get a 55 gal. you could make him the centerpiece.my male killed the female after spawning.live and learn...i use target fish now when i breed most cichlids.here is her pic

Targets don't always help with cryptos, they are notoriously hard on mates. My male also killed his female, I would recommend 2 or 3 females if your gonna try. I'll post a pic tomorrow for you but mine lives will a male marbled con and a pair of Nics at the present

Well this little guy has annoyed me today  Had a tank emergency which resulted in me having to do a 80% water change which lowered the tank temp by 5c and as a result me pencil fish became sluggish.....

And my t bar decided to eat them all !!! They didn't even fit in his mouth he had to hit them had enough to snap them into bits:what:
