This has been going on for about the last 2 years. Various pellets and wafers I have purchased float when they are supposed to sink. It is frustrating since I am trying to feed my bottom feeders.

Here is a list to name a few:
Angels plus algae wafers
Kens meat and spirulina wafers
NLS 4.5 mm sinking pellets.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I have pretty normal water: 10ppm nitrate, 0 nitirite and Ammonia, pH around 7.8. I run sumps with surface skimming overflows.

Anyone else experience floating when it should be sinking?

Yes! Its really frustrating when you have overflows. I have foods that will not sink right away so i have to pre soak them to make sure they all sink in a cup and before i pour them in. Shouldnt be this way. If they are supposed to be sinking pellets they should sink instantly.

NLS doesn't make any 4.5mm sinking pellets... their med. koi and jumbo fish formulas are both floating

A lot of the sinking pellets are made to float a bit at first. This gives fish at every level a shot at food. Not sure how your water returns to your tank but try shooting it across the top at a half way point. This creates a water wall to keep your pellets at the end away from the overflow. Any pellets that in the current are then forced down by the flow. This works real well in our 240.
I have had more problems that some pellets sink to fast and land in the sand or rocks. Hope this may be able to help you it is not a 100 percent cure but works good.

This is correct. NLS does not make a sinking pellet in 4.5mm. It goes from 3mm to 6mm on the sinking. I struggled with the "right" sizing when I distributed for them.
