i might be going to roatan sometime around july and was wondering what species of cichlid i could expect to find

You're not going to find any cichlids on the islands, just mollies, Usally La Ceiba is the jumping off point for the Bay islands, you'll find C. cutteri, T. wesseli, V. maculacauda, P. managunese and A. robertsoni in that area. HRP are in the southern part of the country, very far from the north coast. Ken

thanks its only 30 miles from the mainland

I have been on cruise ship only there for a day though. It was a 7 day and we stopped in roatan honduras, belize city belize, cozumel, and cancun and 3 days at sea. I've been on a lot of cruises but only to honduras once, it is so cool, have fun!

I just got from my 4th collecting trip to Honduras, we spent 7 days camping in the swamps on the Moskito coast. Brutal but fun. I've collect almost all of the north and eastern coast, and around Copan and the Rio Chuloteca south of Tegusigalpa. I love the country, it's got some of the most diverse cichlid populations in Central America. Ken
