I have a tank where i threw in some petsmart "red texas" to see what they turn out to be. one was a very unique fh. i dont know what type she is im horrible at iding fhs. shes short with a blunt face like a blood parrot and tall i think shes a short body. well i introduced my male that i had in my 125g for a while and it was so weird....she immediatly got the black dorsal spot. she went from nothing to a pitch black spot the moment she saw him. in response he went having no kok to almost in a few days developing his hump. well today they are paired up digging a pit and chasing others away. trick is they are both about 3". i know zzs can breed at 3" but has anyone here ever done it? anyone had successful fry? should i let them this small? btw the male is also unknown. he has the body shape of a zz pearls head to toe bright blue, red eyes, and red on chest. i have no clue lol. also has a silvery blue body color.

pics would help with all of this

My female layed eggs at 3.5"-4".....none if the eggs made it...but I think that was my fault...gl to ya

ive got a male jag to breed at 3.5 inches with a convict. and a male fh about 4 inches.

Well tomorrow ill be posting pics. i will also be picking up a green terror breeding pair the male is 4" female is 2". crazy or what. my first thought was stunted but they look well in the pictures and they have been kept alone in 90g. ill take some pics so u guys can id.

green terrors could breed that little I guess, I wouldn't expect it to happen though. My female was just over 3 inches when she bred with my male who was probably 5-6 inches at the time. I have noticed once a female starts breeding she really doesn't grow much more though.

Well tubes are down on the flowerhorn. breeding is gonna happen soon. we will see if they have viable eggs. also today i brought home the gts the male is 5-6" the female is tiny 2-3". odd couple. they just finished their 5 brood. the owner had like 200 remaining fry. so hopefully they get busy here and i also have sexy water.

The gt's like to breed after a cold water change, not ice water cold but as cold as the tap water will go at about 15%.
