Told the guy I was looking for a red wolf fish he said to give him a month. He calls my friend who wants one too and said he didn't find any red wolves but he got spotted red wolves. Is this just another name for the rainbow wolf fish? Anyone?

No there is only a hi fin red wolf fish, purple wolf fish, red wolf fish, rainbow wolf fish. They are pretty much the same thing. The guy might thnk that the small red markings on the fish might be spots
That is not a new species, most likely a Ery. Ery. with red spots like mentioned above, the "purple" wolf is sp. Peru
whats goin on kev. Hey i was gonna contact u about my mala but i traded him with a friend and right now im getting a red wolf. But if interested my buddies local pet shop has 3 malas abou4-5 inches for $15 each
