anyone ever see a redtail channel cross

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They are not in the same family, genus, or species. To far apart in evolution. Redtail is
Family:Pimelodidae Genus:Phractocephalus
Agassiz, 1829 Species:P. hemioliopterus

Channel cat is Family:Ictaluridae Genus:Ictalurus Species:I. punctatus
It would be like a human doing the dirty with a monkey.

I like your thinking, but I would rather breed with a bullhead cat to keep the RTC small:headbang2 but that will not work also, boy you could make some money off of that!!

we just need some redtail eggs and a channel sperm........................stranger things have happened.............

To bad it would not work I can see my 540g tank full of little redtails not just one wating for his pool to be built.

Not impossible. According to some research a friend of mine is conducting on some of the out of the ordinary hybrids available to catfish hobbyist. Apparently there may be something in a catfish' genetic makeup that makes it more susceptible to hybridization. Hence why we've seen stranger things like TSN x Niger catfish. Don't rule out any hybrids when it comes to catfish. There's stranger crosses out there than what we've seen in the USA.
