I used to lift, run, swim, stretch, and train at the gym everyday. I was in great shape.

For the past 2-3 years I haven't had time to go to the gym or do much of anything besides work and go to school.
Having a 4 year old doesn't help either.
I've gone from 6'2" 195 to 6'2" 225 and I feel it.
Maybe I'm getting old but I don't think so.

Anyway, I've been strongly considering one of these workout plans. I like the fact that you can do it at home and it seems like it follows an intense pace.
So, anyone ever try one or both of these and, if so, what did you think?

I did the whole p90x routine 2 years ago and still do some of the workouts a couple days a week. If you follow the 90 day program and watch what you eat, you will have great results. You will notice a huge difference in yourself after the first month. Its a 6 day a week commitment though 1 hour a day. I did it when my kids went to bed every night. YOu need a pull up bar and a few different size dumbells or bands

I like p90x. There is a recent thread on it, probably on one of the first pages in the lounge.

P90X works.... but you must be committed. 6 days weeks for 1 1/2 hours day - ab workout is another 20 mins on top of the regular workout.

i used the bas rutten mixed martial arts workout cd's to get into shape about a year ago. i loved it. its basically just bas rutten calling out commands and punch/kick combos. i tried p90x but it just got kinda boring. both work great but i think the bas rutten mma cds are a great stress reliever wich makes it fun and its great both with or without a heavy bag

you have a bjj gym around you??

What's that?
Either way, getting myself to the gym is not an option ATM and I find my own home workout routine redundant and ineffective. Nor do I have any equipment other than a pull-up bar, jumprope, dumbells and a curl bar.

I tried insanity and it was tough...I think if I were in "good" shape and wanted to get even better then I would have probably been able to do it.
But I stared after oh about a year of not being terribly active and it killed me. I think the way it is organized it is set for success.
