i got some black polished river rock for real cheap .. is the POLISHED rock going to be ok. it says for covering planters or water fountains im just worried if they might of used a chemical to polish it any help appreciated

I brought some in the aquarium section of petco before. Did you get them in an aquarium store/section? I guess it depends what it is polished with.

I could be wrong but I think that polished just means they have been tumbled until smooth, no chemicals ever come in contact with them.

I agree.

The rocks are usually just tumbled in a big tub with water and abrasive grit untill they are nice and smooth. Give them a good wash and they should be good to go in a tank.

Cheers

I use natural color (beige, browns, reds, etc) type polished stones in my tank. They range 1/2" to 2" in various diameters.

A polished stone is a stone that is tumbled for 72 hours in a steel drum with coarse sand and water.

and boil them if they are form the wild to kill anything that may be on them.... good luck...
