I just found out about septo-bac, and it supposedly cycles a tank in a matter of days, not weeks, so has anyone ever used this product and know if it's safe???

Ive never heard of it. But I did cycle 2 tanks using seachem's "Cycle" it took 5-7 days but stayed cycled. Just follow the directions and shake the bottle a lot.

I have read about an angelfish breeder that used rid-ex in his new tanks. I would stick to Bio-Spira (there is a new one that doesn't have to be refrigerated and is packed with nitrogen).

Bio spira is old news and not for sale any longer. Tetra bought the formula and made it so it could stay at room temp. Dr Tim Hanovec the creator went on to create another bio filter formula that I believe needs to be refrigerated as well it is called "Dr Tims Formula" I believe. Stability from Seachem has worked wonders for me though.
