I just used Sea View background sealant to adhere a background to my son's 15G hex. I like the effect but I have a few questions.

First off, what is it? The stuff is kind of oily feeling, but it washes off easily with soap and water. Is it glycerin?

Second, does it dry or remain liquid? If it does dry, how long does it take?

Lastly, how do you remove it if it does dry?

I would like to hear other people's experiences with this product. Anyone?

I used the stuff on the back of my 120g. One bottle worked fine even though they suggested it was for up to a 75g. It really does work well, my background really seems to "pop" and I dont get the reflection off the back like I used to at night. The only thing I did not like was that my background was not 100% perfectly flat (a little ruffled) and it took a lot of work to try and get the edges to stick well. It took a lot of time squeegeeing with a credit card to get it to stick.

Ive only had the stuff on there for about a month so I'm not sure what happens to it over the course of time but it really does work well. Ive heard others use water or mineral oil to the same effect and have success.

Yes, it really does make the background look much better.

I must have put it on too thick, because I keep squeezing out liquid around the edges. It cleans up fairly easily, I can't imagine how hard it would be to clean up mineral oil.

It has only been on since this morning, but it still slides around very easily - does it set up at all with time, or does it remain movable?

The larger the background the harder it is to move! On my 120g the background is like 22" x 60", I could barely budge it the next morning due to the size of it. But it does seem like it will not dry out but just stay kind of tacky. I have not tried to move it since the application.

I applied the background to two sides of the hex. I had hoped to crease the background and bend it around the corner. However, it wouldn't lay flat, so I cut out the crease with a razor and it laid nice and flat. After I cleaned it up with a damp rag I put a piece of blur tape along the seam to block the little bit of light that was showing through the silicone seam.

This tank is in my 8-month-old son's room. Right now there are 4 Glofish and a couple of spotted corydoras, I plan on adding more after a while.

Here are a few photos of the result.
