My 4 motoros are eating Hikari Carnivore, so I thought I'd try some sinking shrimp pellets. I bought a small can of Topfin pellets at Petsmart. They seem to be ignoring them for now. Hopefully I can run across some Wardley or Hikari. I don't want to order a large quantity until I'm sure they will munch them.

mine ate any pellets........ but i stick to hikari cause of nutritional value

If you compare ingredients in any shrimp pellet to the vitamin content of massivore or carnivore, it's obvious what to feed..

Infact, Massivore, Carnivore, and Floating Carnivore Sticks.. compare their vitamin additives to Cichlid Staple, Cichlid Gold, and Cichlid Bio-Gold.. you will be very surprised.

they are close the sinking cichlid gold is good to feed and alot cheaper too...... the downfall is its only available in a medium pellet and the other float

so is the Cichlid Staple, Cichlid Gold, and Cichlid Bio-Gold good to mix in the hikari massivore pellets?

cichlid gold sinking pellets are about equal to carnivor..... the others float

I have 4 bags in front of me.. if I had more, I'd do a bigger hikari comparison.. check this out..

Cichlid "Staple"

  • Vit A ~ 8300 IU/kg
  • Vit C ~ 76mg/kg
  • Vit D3 ~ 1600 IU/kg
  • Vit E ~ 130 mg/kg

Cichlid "Gold"

  • Vit A ~ 14,000 IU/kg
  • Vit C ~ 75 mg/kg
  • Vit D3 ~ 2900 IU/kg
  • Vit E ~ 280 mg/kg

Tropical Food Sticks

  • Vit A ~ 44,000 IU/kg
  • Vit C ~ 170 mg/kg
  • Vit D3 ~ 8800 IU/kg
  • Vit E ~ 550 mg/kg

Sinking Carnivore Pellets

  • Vit A ~ 48,000 IU/kg
  • Vit C ~ 180 mg/kg
  • Vit D3 ~ 9600 IU/kg
  • Vit E ~ 1100 IU/kg

:D Anyone notice the difference? Compare the first one to the last one, and then try to tell me that the food you feed doesn't matter.. :D Makes you think, other brands don't even use these additives or have the gusto to display them on their packaging.

I was checking out the Cichlid BIO-Gold at work the other day, and it is somewhere between the Floating Sticks and Cichlid Gold. I also noticed Hikari's Turtle Sticks have less Vit D3 than the Hikari fish foods.. :screwy:

i did this awhile ago i dont remember the difference being that big.... miles are they the sinking cichlid gold pellets you have...
