anyone had same sex fish act as if spawning?

as title really, i have a rd and rd x that i suspect are both male but often act as if paired! digging pits and being aggressive to others defending ect..... maybe they're *** lol!

I have seen it happen. But are you sure you have them properly sexed.

happened to me before but mostly with the fish being both female.

I Had to females that acted as if they were a pair but it turned out both of them were laying eggs

i had a female black convict try to pair up with my female JD. the JD wanted nothing to do with her, but the convict would always follow her around and even changed her pattern a bit to make itself look more like a dempsey and would try to show off in front of her. it was pretty weird.

It could happen. I cant decide if my male JD has a boyfriend or a girlfriend. They like eachother though, so I let them have it, lol! You know, my female convict once paired with a male nicaraguense cichlid..... wish something would have ceom from that......

I had two red tiger oscar females paired off and laying eggs. I kinda of figured it out when they were laying eggs too often. More like two weeks apart and no babies.
