anyone had same sex fish act as if spawning?

as title really, i have a rd and rd x that i suspect are both male but often act as if paired! digging pits and being aggressive to others defending ect..... maybe they're *** lol!:WHOA:
 
I have seen it happen. But are you sure you have them properly sexed.
 
i had a female black convict try to pair up with my female JD. the JD wanted nothing to do with her, but the convict would always follow her around and even changed her pattern a bit to make itself look more like a dempsey and would try to show off in front of her. it was pretty weird.
 
It could happen. I cant decide if my male JD has a boyfriend or a girlfriend. They like eachother though, so I let them have it, lol! You know, my female convict once paired with a male nicaraguense cichlid..... wish something would have ceom from that......
 
well not 100% i vent checked them and the look the same tho!
