Anyone have a African butterfly fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Keep some floating plants for comfort. No current. Keep a cover. Should take most floating fish food readily.

I had one but it jumped out when I had the lid open and didn't notice so make sure ur tank is covered well.

The lfs I got mine from was able to get it to eat flake food which iv heard is a feat in itself so I never had issue feeding mine but iv heard live crickets are what they really like

Ideally u should have floating plants to help them feel secure.

Mine are great. I have 3 in a 3-foot tank. They hang out together, and occasionally give one another chase but nothing serious.

Yes to floating plants, yes to lid.

They will eat anything that is on the surface, including pellets and flake. Mine will eat out of tongs - it took a little while to get them comfortable with it but I recommend this, just because they really won't go down off the surface to eat (like my old hatchets used to). I feed them fish, krill, and blackworms out of the tongs since those things don't float very well.
