So, last week i noticed that one of my larger cichlids was showing signs of getting sick. He was lethargic, his fins were frayed with white spots that im pretty sure isn't ich and he would stay hovering in a corner. I immediately did a moderate size water change also adding salt and MelaFix. Right away he seemed to act a lot better, swimming like crazy and acting normal. The next day the fins seemed to be better and showing signs of healing. That was a couple days ago and this morning i went to check on him and he's lying on the bottom in the corner of the tank. He's barely moving and showing signs of regressing to that former sick state. He doesn't have ich im pretty sure, but those white spots/areas seem to have reappeared. They are white and kind of look like lint or dust. It's only on small areas of the body like head and around the fins. Has anyone had a fish with symptoms like this? and any suggestions to fix it? Should i keep adding melafix because the bottle says treat for 7 days for sick fish, then do a water change. Also my heater seems to be fluctuating temperatures a lot for some reason which i think is also contributing. I set it for 86 and my thermometer only reads like 80 or 81. I'm working on fixing that.....If this sounds familiar please chime in, thanks!

are you sure? I've had ich on fish before and by now it would have spread to the entire body. Also there isn't little white dots everywhere typical of ich. The best way i can describe this illness is it looks like like lint or dust like i said before. Seems to be affecting the head pectoral fin area
