I'm moving to Italy in July and was wondering if anyone has any info. on the type of fish that are available over there? Do they have LFS everywhere like we do in the states, or is it mostly ordering online? If its mostly online does anyone have any good sites that ship overseas for a decent price? I'll be in Northern Italy..

you can get asian aros i beleive

Thankx, but I only have a 72 and 46 gal bow fronts and a 10 ga so an Arow would be out of the ?.. I'm more interested in Medium sized cichlids, maybe some Calvus, fronts, zebras or some central americans.. I'm just trying to find connections before I get over there, that way I can het my tanksup and running as soon as possible and I would rather buy them locally then have to find someone who ships.

someone should shoot you. you wanna settle for cics cico? lol. jk

but seriously, CHANNA? you could get dwarf snakeheads. or sell all 3 of ur tanks now, buy a 400+ gal and get some asians!!

btw the euros gonna suck... most USA -> Europe will be junk cause the dollar is so weak.

And yes your gonna have a WAY bigger option of fish than florida. some of the species that were cheap are now gonna be expensive now though... availability by country will be turned upside down. fish you thought were cheap are gonna be like $50 and above for juvies. u also gotta worry about heaters.

e-mail here and ask

probably more help than we can give ya

I was stationed in Italy long ago, '85 thru '88. I recall seeing some stores around Pisa and Livorno areas where I lived and worked and they had most of the common fish you can find at lfs here. But of course we're talking 20 some odd yrs ago.
I never sat up a tank while over there, though.

Haha yeah, I have only kept Cichlids so I was trying to stay on what I know more about, but maybe i'll see what they have over there and then decide what I want to keep.. I was just trying to get a jump and see if anyone knew the types of fish that are common over there.. I know Marine keeping is big over there but i'll save that part of fish keeping for later in life.. Thankx i'll look into dwarf snakeheads...
