A friend has a 30 inch goonch that is to the point that it can burst his tank and wants to rehome it. First choice is a public aquarium. So if any of you guys know people who work for zoos or aquariums and can forward me their contact information to see if they would like to take it that would be cool. Closest ones to me are shedd in Chicago, Newport in Kentucky, Columbus zoo, and Cleveland aquarium. Much appreciated. Mods: I posted here for the most reach possible. Here are pics.

Public aquariums probably won't take it. E_americanus E_americanus works for the shedd. There's plenty of members who'd be willing to pay a pretty penny for it though.

Too bad. Hope it gets a good home.

Why give it to an Aquarium when you can get a few hundred bucks for it on here and still know it in good hands..
I would like for it to be on display publicly for the public to enjoy as well as being able to go see it personally in the future. Those are things that can't happen with personal aquaria. I know it's a long shot but I'd like to exhaust those options before putting it up for sale.

I was going to build a 400gallon extra deep tank for him but he's gotten to big for the tank to quick and I don't want to throw thousands at building a tank and rushing through to get it ready for the fish within a month. I don't want to risk the fish doing it that way.

A friend of mine works in the aquatic center of a public zoo, and says he gets 2 or 3 offers of oversized catfish (and other monster fish) per week, but can't take them.

This isn't your run of the mill oversized catfish. I'm sure there are a number of institutions that would love to have this beast on display.

Newport and Louisville zoo have been left voicemails. Newport it had to be explained that it wasn't a normal catfish and they put the call through the to someone in collections in which a voicemail was left.
