i recently saw some youtube videos of EBJD's kept with angelfish and was wondering if anybody had tried it before. they will be in a 150g and my thought was to have 6 angels, EBJD's and a gold severum

Really depends on the EBJD, i have seen some that are peaceful. My current one had to moved away from my geophagus because he was beating them up to much.

Yeah i currently am raising 2 EBJD's started at about 1.5in. one is growing quite fast about 2.5in and is mild tempered while the other one is about .5in smaller now and is a bully to everyone.

I have one at 7" who isn't with angels but is with a variety of other community fish, gouramis, Cory cats, larger tetra, Odessa barbs, etc etc. occasional chasing and fin nipping but I rarely see him actually make contact with other fish. I raised him in a community setting since day one at 1.5" when I got him.

I am raising a 2" EBJD who seems pretty mellow. He was in with another EBJD of the same size for the first week and they got alone just fine without ever fighting. At the moment he is in a 20 high alone. I have heard way to much about these guys being fragile under the 3" mark, so he will remain alone for at least another inch or two, then will be going into my community tank with (current sizes) a 5" severum and six 3" geo red heads. I don't predict any problems, but will keep an eye on it.

I too have seen some EBJDs kept in unusual community settings. I say unusual because many of us think of jack dempseys as being these brutes, but many of the EBJDs are much more mellow. There are some that have the same aggression levels as normal jacks, but I am personally finding this is more uncommon among the coloration.
