So my festae spawn fell through when the male showed almost no interest in courting the female. She laid 3 trail of eggs on the 25th and he just ignored her completely. When she couldn't get his attention, she just stopped laying the eggs and left them on the rock. The fungus got to them and I cleaned them off. Her belly is still big, her tube is hanging out, she's breathing heavily and just huddled at the bottom of the tank with the male hovering over her. I've never ever experienced something like this and I worry for her. Google searches aren't really yielding me any results since most of the cases are about Koi and Betta fish. Anyone here had this happen to a cichlid they had?

I had a red devil bind up on me. It killed her unfortunately. I'm not sure what course of action you can take. Sorry, I'm not much help on this subject.

Sometimes an issue with Cyphotilapia. Never had it after years of frontkeeping, then about three years ago I suddenly lost two or three females in six months, then haven't had it since. Over on cyphos.com we've had several discussions, polls, etc. over the years, trying to figure it out... or at least common factors, which are actually somewhat elusive to pin down; there's a randomness of which female has problems and which ones don't in same tank, same water and food, same male breeders, etc. Over the years I've also done a good bit of my own research trying to figure out causes, treatment, etc., including speaking with techs at fish hatcheries, etc. and I've still never pinned down any one thing. Stress or lack of male cooperation in breeding sometimes seems a factor, but there are way too many solitary females in people's tanks without ever having egg impaction issues to say that's the whole answer.

Standard treatment for most frontkeepers is heavy epsom salt, some doing anywhere from 1-3 cups per 100 gals. Sometimes works, sometimes not. Catching it early certainly helps but doesn't guarantee being able to cure it. Beyond that, in this thread, we figured out that Kanamycin can be effective in at least some cases.
