I've had this Rhamdia Quelen Catfish for about 2 months now and i have yet to find someone else who has one too. Just trying to get a feel for how much its worth and to gain some more info on it Thanks!
The picture attached is when i first got it at 4" now it's 6"
Your a lucky man to have a Rhamdia Q
Another rare & hard to get fish here in the Uk.
These are terrific fish & dont get to the massive sizes assosciated with some of the other Giants.
I was very very lucky to have one from small for around 3 years until it was about 14-16" in length which Im lead to understand is about Max for the species.
Developed a lovely dark mottley green & very thick in the body but retained its lateral line.
Must say though that as they grow they become increasingly aggressive & territorial - or at least mine did, was Very aggressive towards my TSN etc
Standard large Pim requirements will suit fine - Big Tank, plenty of Filtration, good water etc.
Mine would feed on Hikari Cichlid pellets from the surface, great to watch.
He is a thick 6" now, but yes i've heard around a max of 13" also. He is growing up with a group of odoe pike, 2 hystrix rays, a niger cat, and some silver dollars in a 125 and will eventually go into my 8' 240 in time. He eats a lot of hikari carnivore pellets at the moment. You are the first person who i have talked to that has owned one lol. Thats why i try not to call him a "rare" catfish but a uncommon one ANY OTHERS?!?!? I appreciate all the comments everyone!!!
From the small amount of info i have gotten, it says 13", so not super big, very cool cat indeed, he inhales these hikari carnivore pellets i feed along with my niger cat
lol thanks, yea i picked it up because it wasnt even labeled and the store owner had no clue it was even in the tank lol. Sort of a gamble and a mystery but it turned out to be a nice find for sure!
