I have an option to buy Phoenix tetras at $5 each, are they worth it, I hear people are crazy about them but they don’t seem all that interesthing. Can anyone charge pics and vids, are they nice looking? What size they get?

I don't think I've seen them before, they're not amazing looking, but nice. At that cheap if they wouldn't be eaten in my tank I'd definitely get a dozen of them.

They are cool looking when the males are displaying. I was going to get some in my 75g Schoutedeni tank but found some African red eyes instead and my congos didnt work out with my polys so those went in instead. When the news of the coming apacolyps hit me I sold all my tetras. I should have kept them as there does seem to be a possibility of keeping my tanks once I move. I guess the good thing is my Schoutedeni doesnt have to chase the tetras for his snails anymore.....lol. Maybe some pheonix will be in my future also.

I believe aqua imports had groupd of 5 for sale at $50 a group. Perhaps you could call them up and ask them what their experiences were with them?

Thanks, y’all recommend any cool tetra that ain’t too rare that gets 3 inch’s plus?

Ok so you want a tetra that "ain't too rare" but is also not "too common"?

Honestly ive been scratching my head at your posts the last several days. Many people have made great suggestions but you keep deeming them "too common" or "too rare" with seemingly no criteria on your construct of rarity for us to go off of.

Nevertheless, im gonna go ahead and suggest alestes tetras (brycinus longipinnus or bryconalestes longipinnus). They are some of my favorites, medium sized, active schoolers, impressive when fully grown in a large school.

Which tetra or other peaceful schooling fish looks nicest to you? Get that.

Not a tetra, but I like Denison barbs. There are a lot of nice looking barbs. I'm personally not a fan of tetras or characins in general.
