Has anyone have or tried these alien looking Nautilus? These guys are about 8 - 10 inch diameter. On my trip to Palau two months ago they have these in their display tanks.

I thought these were endangered and that you're allowed to buy the empty shells even? May be wrong though

I don't think they do that great in captivity. A few public aquariums and research places have them though.

I see them around quite often at the wholesalers. Never buy them though they have a bad captivity record. And no there not illegel.

I thought that they were endangered though? I watched a show on the discovery channel and they talked about them and I thought they said they were endangered. Maybe I heard wrong but they would be kind of cool to have one.

I have seen them in a few stores, but they never look too good. They were aleways floating at the top of the water(which might not be a bad thing, as I know nothing about these creatures).

The problem with nautilus is that they need cold water, ideally with a changing daily temperature to simulate their night rise to feed. A customer of mine keeps them successfully with a temp-controlled room.

Thanks for the useful info. Does their tank need to be pressurized? I think these guys are from deep waters.

You want a flying clam? LOL

These things just look like aliens to me.
