Anyone have this problem?

A buildup of brown material keeps on building up in my two external canister's tubing.
Any ideas on cleaning it / how to prevent it?

If it really bugs you, Harbor Freight or other tool places sell long handled plastic brushes specifically for hose/tube cleaning. All my tubes are behind the tanks so I don't bother with cleaning them. I also think they are somewhat beneficial.

its algae and bacterial film,good stuff.Someone posted a few years ago,that they would get this on thier python waterchange hose.They would stick the entire hose in a tank full of baby plecos and let them eat it,thus cleaning the hose.

lol cool.. unfortunately my plecos have gotten a bit big... never really thought of it being benificial but I'm guessing any growth in there is going to be extracting something from the water as its flowing through so that's got to be a good thing

... Right better do my water change for this week in a sec
