So I was browsing the website of an lfs which always has a lot of CA cichlids and I see this pair of Vieja Coatzacoalcos.

Anyone ever heard of those? max size, behaviour?
Thanks

You sound like a douche, you always do with every post. Especially since I searched for Vieja Coatzacoalcos and it found nothing.
Oh well thanks anyways.

That's funny, because with 30 seconds of searching I found -

How to sex them-
"All of the P. Sp. "coatzacoalcos" are about three inches long. At this size I believe the difference between the males and the females is apparent. males are a little larger and have a more distinct color pattern. Females...less."
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=374092

How they act/temperament/similar species-
"Sp. 'coatzacolcos' can be very aggressive cichlids, infact this Rio Grande population has been the most aggressive Paratheraps sp. i've kept so far and they aren't fully grown yet. Other keepers have reported a more placid behaved cichlid, but these have been the Rio Junapan population. I have no idea how Rio Carolino fish behave."
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=390256

"Yes, they are very similar to zonatus, almost to the point where a lot of zonatus sold are more than likely sp 'coatzacoalcos'. I'm told there are differences, but i think its time that this fish is properly described."
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=348813

Difference between them and zonatus-
"the main difference I see is their appearance and not the aggression. Rusty told me all of that will change when they pick a partner. Likely they will kill or attempt to kill their tank mates. That's the primary reason I separated the group."
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=393757

A description-
"
As promised here is a sampling of the nearly hundred photos that I took of the tanks. I've received a few e-mails and PM's asking if these were, in fact, the same fish being sold as Zonatus "Rio Carolina". I think the answer to that question is yes. When RUsty Wessel gave me these fish he described them as looking very close to zonatus. So I can see how the name would stick. It's a whole lot easier than writing "coatzacoalcos".

The main difference I see between these and the zonatus is the intense red spangling, in addition to the red band across the snout. "

Great fish. I have two breeding pair. You probably would have better luck searching under the correct name....which is Paratheraps coatzacoalcos and not Vieja. If you have any specific questions, please ask.

In the meantime, search my today in the fishroom posts...and check the videos on my youtube channel.

Thanks for the info.. yea i figured out I should have searched for Paratheraps instead of Vieja. Nice pictures in the "today in the fishroom" topics.

I was checking out the pics too, really nice looking fish if you have room you should give them a try. I like good looking fish you don't see every day and these deffinatly fall into that catagory. If you get them post some pics.

Ahhh...you ought to see if the mods will let you change your screen name to masengill for being the douche to begin with by not knowing what you were talking about from the start of the thread...and then for not knowing how to use the search properly AND for not knowing how to use the link you were given in the first posted answer. The Masengill Tri-Fecta! Nice One!
