I just got one and followed all the instructions to set it up. However, after priming it and plugging it in, the impeller is running but there is no siphoning from the intake tube. Help!!!

I kept priming until the air bubbles stopped and then I plugged it an and it wouldn't start. It appears that water isn't being drawn into the system. The only thought I had was that the instructions say it can't be more than 4.5 feet from the top of the tank to the bottom of the filter and it's about 4.5 feet exactly.

With the exception of the FX5 I found that priming Fluval canisters to be a PITA. The best method I found is with the canister empty "close" the disconnect valve, fill the intake hose with water, make sure the output is above the water line, and then open the disconnect valve. The water should start to flow in the canister. Once filled plug it in and it should go... heh

"about exactly"?
I switched to Rena because of the PITA priming fluvals. I power primed mine before i ditched it.
hook a tube up to a powerhead, put the other end the intake and shoot water down into it until all water starts coming out of the out pipe. then turn the fluval on.

turn it on and keep pumping until you see bubbles coming out.

How long will that take? I just tried for about five minutes straight and nothing.
