Anyone here have renters insurance?

I have mine through american family. covers everything i own but only up to 16000 dollars. Always a good idea though.

i really need to look into this. i would kill myself if somebody smashed my tanks, stole my tv and guns 
I have renters insurance through american family aswell. It was required to have through my apartement. But I am trying to get away from american family because their rates are ridiculous.
I have to get renters insurance in the next three days so that I can continue living in my apartment. I will let you know what they cover. I am also located in Ontario, Canada
I recently got it for a new apartment. You are covered up to a certain amount, and i know on the details of the situation it asked about pets. Not sure how having pets affects rates, but its good to be honest on these things just in case.
With my insurance provider, I'm only covered for tank spills if the tank is set up according to manufacturer's guidelines and the stand is a stand manufactured for the purpose of holding an aquarium. And even then I need a rider if I want any damages worth more than $500 covered.
In other words, any component that is deemed home-made or designed for a purpose other than for aquarium use will void any coverage. I passed on the rider.

You have to becareful because sometimes they will say anything over a certin size will not be covered, like for example over 120 g. You can have 100 100G Tanks but if you have even one tank over 120g they wont cover you.
