I wanted to see if any of you guys run for fun? I did a lot of running in the ARMY when I was 18 and just started up again about two years ago. I've done a handful of 5k and 10ks, couple half marathons, and completed my first marathon earlier this month. I really want to get into running trails but there isn't anything like that close to me.

Any runners? I want to hear about your races and all things running!

I can run pretty far but never saw the fun in it.. I only do it to get fit for other sports I do. A few people in my family did some half marathons and the likes so I guess I could do well if I wanted to.

I started running more recently. I do a few 5ks a year but I'm stepping it up this year. Going to train for a half marathon in October. Right now I run several times a week on a treadmill. Averaging between 5-6 miles at a time.

You ought to give one a try!

I haven't ran any since my car accident. Even before that not much.

I've had set backs here as well. Get back to it!

That's awesome. I'm training for a 10k right now but this time around I want to work on my time. A local 10k is what got me started in running and I ran it at a slow pace so this time I'm going to try significantly lower my time. The half in my opinion is the best. It's not too far but not too short.

This is a good guide to go by. They have plans for many distances.

Hello; I was a runner for quite a while until various issues with my feet and knees stopped my running. I never ran in races, mainly for fitness. I did run with a friend while he trained for marathons but never raced in them.
best pointers I can think of are to get the right shoes for your feet. Go to a New Balance shop and check if they have a machine that will analyze your foot type. You do not have to get NB tho. I prefer Nike. My running time was likely cut shorter because I did not understand my high arches needed a particular type shoe.
Also stretch before and after a run.
